What does a film production company do? It takes a story from an idea to a finished film: it writes and plans it, shoots or animates it, edits it, adds the music, sound and visual effects, and delivers it to the screens where people will watch it. We made a three-minute film that shows what that means in one studio, door by door.
TD Film Studio, in Guwahati, Assam, has made eight feature films, 60 short films, three web series, 88 animated films, five documentaries, 67 music videos, commercials and client films, explainers and children’s films over more than twenty years: 85+ projects in all. Door 1 · India’s sacred stories
Behind the first door are the gods themselves: animated devotional and mythological films, researched from scripture and made at cinematic scale. Shri Krishna’s Entire Life and Jai Maa Kali have each passed 1.5 million views on YouTube. Watch them on devotional films.

Long before AI, we shot films with cinema cameras and real actors. There are eight feature films, among them Avataran, the first science-fiction feature film of Assam, with 1,500+ visual effects shots, and Adhorua. What a film production company actually does, stage by stage
- Development. The idea becomes a story: research, a script or screenplay, a storyboard, and a plan for the look.
- Pre-production. Casting, locations, sets and costumes for live action; characters, worlds and style frames for animation; a schedule and a budget.
- Production. The shoot with cameras, lights and actors, or the animation, shot by shot, under one director.
- Post-production. The edit, visual effects, colour, music, sound design and the final mix.
- Delivery and release. Masters for every screen, subtitles and dubbing, a trailer, thumbnails, and the pages and search work that help people find the film.

What does a film production company do?

What is the difference between a film production company and a video production company?
The words overlap. “Film production company” usually means stories told with cinema craft, such as feature films, short films, web series and animated films. “Video production company” usually means business work, such as commercials, corporate films and explainers. A full-service studio does both.

Yes, openly. Many of our animated films are made with AI tools, always under human direction: the research, the script, the direction, the edit and the sound are ours. We also shoot live action with cinema cameras and real actors, as we have for more than twenty years.
Do you work with clients outside Assam and India?
Yes. The studio is in Guwahati, Assam, and works with clients anywhere. Most of the work, from the first brief to the final review, happens online.
