An architect who became a filmmaker. Eighteen years of live-action cinema, then animated films made end to end, from the first idea to the final master, in every department.
Tarunabh Dutta: one director, every department
Tarunabh Dutta trained as an architect at Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Mumbai, and has directed films since 2006. He writes the screenplay, storyboards, directs, animates or shoots, edits, composites the visual effects, designs the motion graphics, grades, composes and designs the sound, and finishes subtitles, translation and dubbing until the master is signed off.
For eighteen years that craft was practised with cinema cameras, real locations and hundreds of actors. He has experimented with generative tools since 2021 and has made animated films with them since about 2023, which is why a single studio can now deliver at a scale that used to need a department. The tools are the brush; the vision, the story and the finish are his.
His devotional films Shri Krishna’s Entire Life and Jai Maa Kali have each passed a million views, and international clients have come to the studio because of its published work. Himakhi Dutta works alongside him as Chief Assistant Director.

Who the studio has worked with
Excelcare Dental Clinic, Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Nilachal HP Gas Agency, Assam Downtown University, Dornier Systems and departments of the Government of Assam (TV campaigns, 2014), with visual effects for the feature films Rudra (directed by Rupak Gogoi, 2025), Kooki (2024) and Rador Pakhi (Morning Sunshine) (2024). Earlier credits include direction, production and visual effects for the DY365 television series Anusandhankari Spiridon (2011–12); project coordination, character and scene concepts and storyboards for Jahnu Barua’s 3D animated advertising campaign for Assam Tourism, made with Reliance Animation (2009–10); storyboards and character design concepts for Disney India’s Zokkomon (2008–09); and an uncredited cinematography contribution to Chor: The Bicycle (2014).
Teaching
A mentor to actors and filmmakers
Nine batches of the Onscreen Acting Workshop since 2016, close to 200 actors trained, and 40+ workshops across colleges, universities and schools. Interns in direction, writing, cinematography and visual effects now work in the film industry.
